Choosing the right domain name is a critical part of making sure that your website will be successful. Many names have already been registered by other website owners. The art is coming up with a name that is easily remembered by your visitors and still available to be registered. You can always try searching to see if a different domain suffix is available (ex. .net, .org, .biz) if the .com name has already been taken.

It's a good idea to think ahead about the content of your site before purchasing a domain name and try to secure a name that contains a keyword phrase that you would like your site to be associated with in search engines. Many SEO gurus believe that the lead search engines Yahoo, Google and Bing give higher rankings to sites that have keyword phrases in in the domain-name.

There are a number of domain registrars who provide the services of registering domain names.

Quired mainly uses MediaTemple.net as our registrar, but we are able use third party companies such as GoDaddy.com with our hosting service as well.

Once your Quired website is built and you are using an outside domain registrar, provide the following DNS information in order to point your domain name to our hosting services:

• ns1.mediatemple.net
• ns2.mediatemple.net

All registrars will require you to create login with a username and password at the point of registration. Always make sure to maintain these records for future use.
